Adjustment to college life can be tough for freshmen students

Finlinson Center to take over DSPS disability testing

Due to budget cuts this year, Disabled Student Programs & Services will no longer be administering testing for DSP&S students, which will be effective this spring semester. According to a DSP&S document, "DSP&S Counselors will continue to authorize appropriate accommodations to DSP&S students attending Delano and BC main campuses.

Levan Center to open in early March

Construction on the Norman Levan Center for the Humanities is expected to be finished by mid-February with an opening ceremony scheduled for March 4 and a Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce mixer on Feb. 24. The Levan Center will be host to several seminars, the faculty Colloquia and a series of events centered on the Humanities, according to Levan Center director Jack Hernandez.

SGA sponsors 'Ask Me' tables

The Student Government Association of Bakersfield College organized Ask Me tables the first week of school in order to inform and help students in the new semester. The tables were placed in strategic places to help the most students, such as outside the Fireside Room.

Solar power to be added over parking

A main administrator of Bakersfield College is not on campus this semester, which has some students questioning the reason behind her absence. Vice President of Instruction Mildred Lovato is on administrative leave according to Greg Chamberlain, president of BC.
