Bakersfield College softball wins three straight after slow start

The Bakersfield College softball team played against Santa Barbara City College and lost 3-1 on Feb 18. The game remained scoreless until the top of the fourth inning, when Santa Barbara's Laura Cayons came in to score off a double from teammate Lisa Zeitlin.

Bakersfield College women's tennis: Coach likes attitude despite WSC matches

The Bakersfield College women's tennis team has played six matches and has a record of 2-4 overall and a conference record of 0-2. The Renegades lost to Ventura by a score of 8-1 on Feb. 25 and 6-3 to Santa Barbara on Feb. 18. Coach Gene Lundquist said of the Santa Barbara match that, "it was a much closer match than the score indicates.

Slow start to the season and conference for Bakersfield College men's tennis team

Bakersfield College's men's tennis team is 2-4 overall and 0-2 in the Western State Conference. The Renegades last match was against Ventura College on Feb. 25. BC was defeated 9-0. Nick Jacobs, the team's No.1 player, was defeated 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 by Ventura's Rob Diamond.

Bakersfield College Basketball: Fisher's thirty-four points not quite enough, as season ends

Bobby Fisher had 34 points, but the Renegades men's basketball team still lost in the semifinal round of the playoffs on Feb. 26 to Southwestern College of Chula Vista, by the score of 93-88. Bakersfield College was rewarded for its season by being given the eighth seed, a bye for the first round and a home game for their second round game.

The Bakersfield College women's basketball team held the last game of the season against Glendale at BC and lost 50-49 Feb. 20. Sophomore guard Ashlee Taira talked about the loss after the game. "It was the most disappointing game I've played in a while.

Bakersfield College baseball: Team heads into conference play with wins

Bakersfield College's baseball team is preparing to go into Western State Conference play after going 8-4 in the early part of its season. The Renegades' most recent win came on Feb. 25 against Moorpark, in which they won 17-5. BC's offense started off fast, getting out to a 6-3 lead after three innings.

Update: Bakersfield College Athletic Director Jan Stuebbe due to return in March after Dec. 10 stroke

Bakersfield College Athletic Director Jan Stuebbe was supposed to be out until mid-February with unspecified health problems, but when he was spotted at the BC softball and baseball games on Feb. 20, he was asked to confirm his return date and why exactly he was on medical leave.

Bakersfield College swim teams routed

Bakersfield College swimming head coach Charlie Pike said that the swim teams' plans to travel to the Feb. 26-27 Invite at Mt. San Antonio College were cancelled due to lack of funding. "By just going through our budget and how much money we had in the foundation, I figured we couldn't pull it off," Pike said.
