Several renovation projects are in the works for Bakersfield College.
According to Keith Keevil, manager of maintenance and operations at BC, a project to establish the Levan Center on the main campus in the business education building is set to begin Dec. 1.
According to LaMont Schiers, executive director of administrative services, with gift money the college received, and as part of the Levan project, the north side of the business education building, which faces Panorama, will be fashioned into an arch.
"It will look like a huge bay window," Schiers said.
Also, near the front of the business and Levan building will be a new bus terminal on Panorama. According to Schiers, this project was just approved by KCCD and construction has not started. The terminal will be funded by the GET bus company.
According to Keevil, another project, the air conditioning system in the Finlinson Assessment Center, has been upgraded and improved. Schiers said that the work in Finlinson would be done in October.
At BC's Delano campus, there will be an installation of portable classrooms because of class growth. The work will be completed in October as well, Schiers said.
Keevil said there are always smaller ongoing projects going on.
Many restrooms around the campus are getting new light fixtures. Schiers said that all of the various projects will be finished by the end of this academic year.
