Due to budget cuts this year, Disabled Student Programs & Services will no longer be administering testing for DSP&S students, which will be effective this spring semester.

According to a DSP&S document, "DSP&S Counselors will continue to authorize appropriate accommodations to DSP&S students attending Delano and BC main campuses."

The change means that students interested in DSP&S services will now be approved by their college assessment test results. All of the services provided by the program will continue, and DSP&S students are assured of all the accommodations necessary for their needs.

DSP&S students will now take their tests in the Assessment Center, located in the Finlinson Conference Center, or at the Delano Campus in Room 1001 DSP&S Office.

Students will still follow the same process to receive testing accommodations and can find the form online under the student services tab on the BC website, or in the assessment centers.

According to DSP&S, they are "providing training to the Assessment Center staff on the use of equipment and use of assistive technology" as well as "providing sensitivity training when helping students with disabilities."

Students will receive the same accommodations from the trained Assessment Center staff that they received from the DSP&S center.

Additionally, students will still be able to test Monday through Friday at the following times: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday through Thursday; 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Friday.

At the Delano Campus, students can take their tests on Monday 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. or Thursday noon to 4 p.m.

Faculty and adjuncts concerned about submitting tests through DSP&S Alternate Media for production in alternate format or for braille will still be able to submit them and "continue to submit tests in an alternate format, such as braille, in regards to student testing."
